Groundhog Day Shadow Writing

As hard as it is to believe, February starts on Monday, which means Groundhog Day is on Tuesday.  Did it sneak up on anyone else???

I created a writing activity for my kiddos and a thrilled with how it turned out!!

I've turned it into a learning pack for a ready to use writing lesson for you.  There's an anchor chart to spark a discussion and six shadows to share with your group.  Ask them: What do you infer the shape is?  How do you know?  Then using different shadows students will create a flap book where they print their guess on the top flap then underneath print their reasoning.

You can find it HERE to learn more.  Be sure to check out the preview to see everything that's included.

As always the first 3 people who comment on this post will receive a free copy.  I'm heading out for a bit but will check in later this evening and send a copy to the people who comment.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!!

Winter Writing Freebie

It's another snowy day here and I'm happily sitting in front of the fire keeping warm enjoying some Netflix :)  Can a lazy Saturday get any better???

I've created a winter writing activity for my kiddos to do this week which you can download HERE for free.

You'll find a writing web, a couple of different writing pages and a winter words page.

I hope that by sharing I can help a few of you with your planning :)

Have a wonderful  weekend and for those of you who have Monday off I have one word - JEALOUS!!

Starting the New Year with Organization

Happy New Year!

I hope that you are all settled into your back to school routine.  It was a busy week in first grade and as much as I love my first graders I was 'a tad' tired by Friday and ready for the weekend! ;)

We started the week by creating toasts from Katie Mense's New Year pack - they turned out adorably!!!!  You can find her pack HERE.

My kiddos were then thrilled to solve the mystery of my free New Year's Place Value Mystery Picture.  You can download a copy HERE.

I spent much of the holidays organizing at home ... closets, the kitchen... I actually accomplished a lot!
Once I got back to school I created new bin labels for my Monday to Friday bins.  Let's face it - a cute work space is essential!
You can download the labels for free HERE.

Happy New Year friends!
